There's harvest storytelling, Native foods to sample, art and crafts for sale, and sensory-friendly activities for younger kids. Spend the day farm hopping across Sullivan County. Participating farms throw open their gates from 10 AM to 4 PM with tours, hayrides, animal meet-and-greets, demonstrations, crafts, and samples of what they grow and make. Three days of crafts and farmers market stalls, midway rides, live music on the Main Street stage, an oxen competition, a children's parade, and a lobster dinner and chicken BBQ. Aim to roll in around 1 when the band starts, or come later and catch the tail end of the afternoon. It's free, open to everyone, and one of the best ways to see the trail at peak fall color.

Buy a numbered rubber duck, ride the chairlift up the mountain, and drop it toward the targets below for a shot at prizes ranging from season passes to family vacations. Now in its 10th year, the Duck Drop benefits the Boys & Girls Club and takes place during Mount Sunapee's fall festival weekend, minutes from your room.

Earn your Thanksgiving dinner at a harbor tradition now in its 20th year, drawing more than 800 racers. The 1K Chicken Run for kids kicks off at 8:15 AM, the 5K follows at 9 AM, and it runs rain or shine. Costumes are optional but heartily encouraged, and proceeds support the town's recreation facilities. Bring a reusable water bottle since they've done away with cups.
