Thursday, September 18 at 6:30 PM – LSPA The Economic Value of Natural Landscapes

Join us for a presentation by LSPA’s Burkehaven Fellow, and Tufts University PhD student, Julia Danielsen. Julia’s talk will explore how environmental studies and economics, often seen as separate worlds, can work together in powerful and practical ways. Her talk will cover: 1) An introduction to the field of environmental economics; 2) A framework for placing value on natural landscapes; and 3) A case study applying these methods right here in the Lake Sunapee watershed. Following the presentation, Julia will host a Q&A and discussion, giving us all a deeper understanding of how and why conservation can benefit both nature and the economy.

The Lake Sunapee Turkey Trot, now in its 19th year, is a beloved Thanksgiving Day tradition in Sunapee Harbor. Participants gather at the Ben Mere Gazebo on Thursday, November 27, 2025, with a festive 1K “Chicken Run” for kids at 8:15 AM, followed by the main 5K trot at 9 AM—rain or shine.
