Our favorite piece at the Clark Institute is the striking 19.5-foot-tall Crystal installation by German artist Thomas Schütte now stands atop a grassy hill, inviting visitors to reflect on art and nature. Hildene: The Lincoln Family Home

Step back into history at Hildene, the elegant 19-room estate of Robert Todd Lincoln (Abraham Lincoln’s son) nestled in the hills above Manchester, Vermont. The mansion is beautifully preserved, full of original furnishings, family portraits, and sweeping views of the Taconic and Green Mountains.
Beyond the house itself, explore the gardens, greenhouse, carriage barn, and the restored Pullman car “Sunbeam” — once used by Robert Lincoln and his family during rail travel. Horace Hill Disc Golf Course sits just off Vermont Route 100 in the heart of West Dover village. The 53-acre property was purchased by the Town of Dover in 2019 to both preserve the land and expand local recreation opportunities.
In 2023, the town began developing the site with a professionally designed network of hiking and mountain biking trails. Today, it’s also home to a world-class 18-hole disc golf course — a highlight on Vermont’s tournament circuit and a hub for local leagues and seasonal events throughout spring, summer, and fall.

Woodford State Park

At 2400 feet, this 398-acre park has the highest elevation campground of any park in Vermont. Woodford is located on a mountain plateau surrounding Adams Reservoir. The high elevation spruce/fir/birch forest provides an ideal setting for the park. Woodford borders the George Aiken Wilderness Area, which is in the Green Mountain National Forest. There are several lakes and ponds in the surrounding area.
